Wedding Information

Thank you for considering me for your wedding photography. A brief overview of costs and what to expect follows…

Cost:

First of all, welcome and CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming wedding!

Often, the first thing I’m asked—other than “Are you available on such-and-such a date?”—is “How much do you charge?” The answer is: “What are you looking for and what is your photo budget?” I’ve attended weddings ranging from quiet in-home services lasting less than an hour, to beach ceremonies with a BBQ and party, to week-long, multi-million-dollar destination extravaganzas. I’ve found people usually have a pretty good ball-park idea of charges, or at least what they would like to spend. A typical wedding shoot where I’m on-site for 8-10 hours is around $1,500. But read on-

I love to shoot weddings—and no two are ever the same! Please note the following:

  • I try to customize my services to fit your budget, whatever that might be, however my minimum charge for ANY kind of photo shoot is $400. Weddings usually require a lot more more time shooting the event and afterwards, processing the photos.

  • A selection of processed digital images is available for you in short order—usually within a couple of days or less. No waiting for weeks to get your images back. And there are no extra charges afterwards for copies or enlargements—see the Images section below.

If we’re able to meet before you decide on a photographer, I’d love to introduce myself and get to know you both a little—and your expectations—before moving forward.

Photo Shoot:

A key factor is my time on-site. Please recognize that, for every hour shooting, at least that long—often double or more—is spent afterwards, reviewing and processing the RAW images. RAW images yield the most detail and have the highest dynamic range, but require processing on the computer. And while I’m not a strict clock-watcher, obviously time is money.

Do you need me shooting for the entire day or more, to cover all aspects of your wedding? Or if you’re currently in the planning stages, I can also take photos of your engagement, or to use with wedding invitations. When the time comes, you could have photos at the rehearsal/rehearsal dinner. On the big day, there can be shots at breakfast, of the bridal dress on the hanger, rings and accessories, shots of the bride, groom and wedding party members during preparation—how many bridesmaids and groomsmen are there? Shots of the venue(s) and decorations, the first look, obviously the ceremony itself, signing of the register by bride, groom & witnesses, posed bride and groom and bridal party shots, photos of the relatives and guests, group photos, reception & dinner, speeches, cake cutting, first dance, glass tinkling and toasts, entertainment, dancing/partying, the newly married couple departing; the list goes on. If allowed by the venue and within government guidelines, some aerial drone shots can also be included.

Or, are you just looking for an hour or so, with some shots during the ceremony, a few of the bride and groom afterwards and perhaps sneak in some shots of any special guests? As I said—the choices are yours!

Images:

You’ll receive processed and edited digital images, uploaded to a OneDrive or DropBox folder, with a link to the folder. You are free to use, share and distribute the link and images as you wish. If any are used publicly, I would appreciate photo credit. The folder is available for 90 days after the wedding and you are encouraged to download your personal copy. These images are generally in medium resolution for online or social media use, or as you specify.

Also included, if you would like prints or enlargements of any of the images—any size, from business card to billboard—simply let me know which ones and the size(s) you want and I will send you those images, resized and ready to print on paper, canvas, metal, acrylic or any other media or novelty items your local photo labs may be offering. Depending on the sizes asked for, some images may need to be cropped differently to suit those proportions.

My equipment includes professional Sony mirrorless camera gear, capable of silent shooting, with high-resolution, 61 megapixel RAW images. These get processed in Lightroom, certain images receiving additional attention with PhotoShop, Portrait Pro or Topaz software. Lighting equipment is from Sony, Strobepro and Rotolight, including the latest LED panels capable of both continuous and no-recycle-time flash in a selection of 16.7 million colours.

CONSIDER THIS: Today, lots of people have cameras. Many may offer to do your wedding photography. Results will vary, depending on their experience, creativity, equipment, technical skills and processing abilities. Bottom line—you want to feel confident the images you receive will be the kind you can look back at years later with fond memories.

Let’s discuss how you can have professional, high quality photos—within your budget—to remember your wedding with. Your special day deserves special images! Visit the Clients page for some unsolicited emails I’ve received from clients after seeing their images.

Finally, here’s a quote from a review posted online from customer Nicole:
Brian was absolutely amazing for our wedding. He was budget friendly, made sure we got every shot we wanted and met us the day before at the site to go over everything and each shot he suggested to us as well. Great communication, passionate about his work, and quick to get our album back to us. I highly recommend him for any event or photo shoot. I cannot put to words how absolutely happy we are. He exceeded all expectations. Thank you again Brian for making the most important day of our lives memories that will forever be shown through your photos!”
